Georgetown Law is a global institution educating students to be excellent lawyers in the pursuit of justice and finding solutions to the world's most challenging problems. We do this through the teaching and scholarship of our faculty and through the work of our dedicated staff. The work of the Office of Executive and Continuing Legal Education (OECLE) team extends that mission from our law students to the greater legal and business world.
Job Overview
The Director of Lifelong Learning works with the Associate Vice President and Chief of Staff and the Executive Vice President and Dean of the Law Center to establish and execute the executive and continuing legal education business development strategy for the law school. They direct our business partnership development efforts, and develop and oversee our custom and open enrollment executive education and continuing legal education program portfolios.
Georgetown Law's Executive and Continuing Legal Education programs are developed and taught by expert faculty in law and business. The Director cultivates strategic collaborations with senior lawyers, executives and community leaders locally, nationally, and globally; and designs effective solutions for their talent-development needs by directing the development of custom and open enrollment offerings to address their distinctive needs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to identifying target partners and clients; nurturing collaborative partnerships; formulating proposals and establishing pricing; managing the execution of programs; and developing career-enhancing programs and services for lawyers and business professionals. Additionally, the Director is responsible for recruiting expert faculty in law and business to develop and teach programs.
Work Interactions
The OECLE provides high quality executive and continuing legal education programming to attorneys and other professionals; and generates revenue for the Law Center which helps support other goals and initiatives.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President and Chief of Staff, the Director manages the OECLE team, and has a high level of interaction with Georgetown faculty, staff and alumni, as well as legal and business professionals.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree - preference for MBA or JD or MBA
At least 10 years of senior management level experience running a team
Demonstrated experience envisioning, developing, and implementing a successful business and marketing plan - based on an organization's goals and priorities - for a complex organization
Experience building strong, effective, and collaborative teams
Highly self-motivated and entrepreneurial
Ability to effectively handle and communicate risk
Adept at creating and nurturing professional partnerships
Willingness and availability for potential of occasional domestic or international travel
Preferred qualifications
Experience working in a legal environment or with lawyers and or law faculty
Experience in the following areas: revenue generation, budgeting, professional development, special events management, human resources, and operations
