Taft is seeking a team-oriented patent associate to join our Intellectual Property group.
Taft Law is seeking an associate with an advanced degree and 2+ years of patent prosecution experience. The ideal candidate will have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, superior academic credentials, with backgrounds in one of the following fields: biology, cell or molecular biology, genetics, immunology, chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, chemical engineering, and similar disciplines. Previous law firm or industry experience and current patent bar membership is preferred. Candidates with strong scientific backgrounds who have not passed the patent bar exam will be considered. Candidates are expected to draft and prosecute patent applications, prepare patent opinion letters, provide IP counseling to clients, and conduct patent due diligence studies in connection with business transactions, and working with other practices in the firm to provide full service to life science companies.
The associate can work from Taft’s Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton or Indianapolis offices.
