Position Overview: The Senior Regulatory Counsel reports directly to the Senior Vice President and General Counsel. In coordination with our Government Affairs and Communications (“GAC”) team, he or she assists with strategic regulatory policy advocacy and serves as a vital contributor on business and legal strategy, facilitating and influencing optimal outcomes for the company arising from federal and state level regulatory policy affecting the biorefining industry. The Senior Regulatory Counsel also provides compliance advice to the company relating to environmental, alcohol, food and drug, election, and transportation law, among other areas, and supports POET’s transactions. This position will operate as the “tip of the spear” within the biorefining industry to implement the Renewable Fuel Standard, California Low Carbon Fuel Standard, Inflation Reduction Act clean transportation fuels tax credits, and other state, federal, and international climate programs and will have the unique opportunity to be a significant player in the transformation of our carbon-based economy into a sustainable, bio-based economy that will positively benefit generations to come. This position will additionally supervise an Associate Regulatory Counsel.
Experience: 10+ years of legal practice, including significant experience in a relevant in-house position and preferably including experience within a top law firm or in a government agency.

Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
Bar: Must be licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and willing and able to become licensed in Washington, DC within one year of joining POET.
