The Talent Department of Arnold & Porter has an opening for a Talent Development Coordinator in the San Francisco office. The Talent Development Coordinator handles a variety of responsibilities for the Attorney Recruiting, Career Development & Advancement, and Professional Development teams. The Talent Development Coordinator supports the recruitment of associates, staff attorneys, and summer associates, including new and lateral attorney orientation and integration, career development, professional development (training, mentoring, and retreat) programs, as well as ad hoc projects.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Summer Program
Assisting the Attorney Recruiting Specialist in planning the summer associate program; including but not limited to planning events, coordinating summer associate arrival dates,sending pre-arrival communications; scheduling orientation programs, and assisting with the assignment and evaluation collection, as needed.
Facilitating the end-of-summer exit process.
“Fall” Recruiting
Working with the attorney recruiting team and National Hiring Committee to develop and implement an overall recruiting strategy and program to best present Arnold & Porter candidates on campus.
Supporting the lateral associate interview process and providing support for the callback interview process.
Coordinating the on-campus interview process.
Preparing expense forms and check requests.
Assisting with the planning of callback events.
Coordinating weekly decision meetings during the callback process.
Coordinating campus outreach events, including on-campus events designed to market the Firm.
Coordinating paperwork for new associate and staff attorney hires (arrival notices, orientation schedules, orientation packets, personnel files, and personnel authorization forms).
Assisting/coordinating onboarding and integration processes.
Acting as a liaison for new employees with other Firm departments.
Career Development & Advancement
Supporting the team with various initiatives, including program implementation for attorneys firmwide (including new partners and counsel), data analysis, and resource maintenance.
Assisting the Career Development & Advancement and Professional Development teams with the yearly career development process for associates. Serving as a liaison to partners and counsel to help manage these career development meetings.
Professional Development
In collaboration with the firmwide Professional Development (PD) Team, supporting program implementation for summer associate, new associate, emerging growth and various practice group trainings held in the San Francisco office or remotely across offices.
Coordinating the collection and analysis of feedback from in-house training programs and recommending improvements based on feedback.
Collecting, organizing, and maintaining CLE application and course materials for in-house training programs.
Updating the firm-wide training calendar to include all in-house training programs.
Providing logistical support for firmwide retreats such as the New Associate Retreat, Summer Associate Training Forum, and Deposition Skills Training as needed.
Marketing
Partnering with career services personnel and faculty to raise the Firm’s profile on campus; organizing, tracking, and following up for career development meetings; interacting with the network of former Arnold & Porter summer associates.
Helping update the careers section on our website as well as our Vault profile. Developing internal marketing emails for the professional development department.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience in a law Firm, professional services or corporate environment.
Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software. Knowledge of viDesktop platform a plus.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational (written and oral) and problem-solving skills.
Good judgment, a professional demeanor and presentation.
Ability to provide an excellent first impression of the Firm.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while exhibiting strong attention to detail.
Must work well with all levels of Firm personnel, establish effective working relationships throughout the Firm and react to challenging situations appropriately.
Must be creative, flexible, adaptable to change and results-oriented.
Willingness to attain understanding/familiarity with Firm systems, policies, politics and procedures, client services, and future goals in order to troubleshoot questions, problems or concerns.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information is essential.

Flexibility to work additional hours as necessary.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $60,000 to $70,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
