Job Description:
The Senior Accessibility Resources Director and ADA Compliance Officer is a visionary leader responsible for promoting an accessible, inclusive, and equitable campus culture. Reporting to the Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the director interprets, implements, and enforces government legislation, and establishes policies related to campus-wide accessibility and accommodations. The position exists to ensure legal compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, 2008 Amendments to the ADA, Sections 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and other legislation pertinent to persons with disabilities.
The position functions as the primary institutional representative for University ADA monitoring and compliance. Goals for continual improvement in technology, facilities and programs are developed in collaboration with administration, academic departments, building services, online learning and IT. The senior director develops and implements new programs to meet increasing demands related to changes in disability law and evolving best practices.
This position is also responsible for the management, staff supervision and functioning of the Accessibility Resources department including an alternative testing center. The senior director applies advanced and comprehensive knowledge of Title IX, disability law and technical standards to conduct interactive intakes, evaluate documentation (as appropriate) and determine reasonable accommodations in accordance with state and federal mandates.
Administrative duties include budgeting, outreach, training, consultation, and scholarship allocation. The senior director is an institutional representative with state and federal agencies, Office of the Attorney General and the Minnesota State System Office.
Required Qualifications:
Graduate degree in a related field such as social work, behavioral science, counseling & student personnel, disability services, rehabilitation counseling, special education, human resources, psychology, public policy or law plus a minimum of five years of advanced professional experience in a related field; or a bachelor's degree in related field plus six years of advanced professional experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of the complex laws, policies, and best practices applicable to the full range of disability and access services in higher education, such as ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, 29 U.S.C. § 794, Title I, Title II, Title IX, Fair Housing Act and Universal Design principles.
Ability to serve as a recognized authoritative expert in accessibility related areas across multiple functional areas within the University and on behalf of the University.
Demonstrated commitment to students with diverse backgrounds including, but not limited to, students of color, LGBTQ+ students, first-generation students, neurodiverse students, students with disabilities, and international students.
Comprehensive knowledge of accessibility accommodations, such as the use of alternative technologies that enable people with a wide range of disabilities to communicate, participate, and perform tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Broad management skills and experience in personnel supervision, program development, policy writing, strategic planning, and budgeting.
Ability to analyze and interpret government-issued advisories, changes in law, and institutional policy updates that have University-wide impact.
Current knowledge of policies, emerging trends and professional literature related to disability services in higher education.

Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
Telework: A position with a work arrangement that allows an employee to perform work on a regular basis at a telework location that is not the employee's permanent/principal work location. Up to 20% of the time.

The salary range denoted above is the contractual range; however, salary upon hire is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
