Summary of Responsibilities
Performs legal research and analysis, drafts legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs, represents clients in court proceedings, provides legal counsel to clients, negotiates and drafts contracts and legal agreements, attends depositions and mediations, collaborates with other attorneys and staff to develop legal strategies and case plans, manages a caseload, and stays informed of changes in laws and regulations relevant to the firm's practice areas.
This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal issues;
Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs;
Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings and trials;
Provide legal counsel to clients and advise them on legal matters;
Negotiate and draft contracts and other legal agreements;
Attend depositions, mediations, and other legal proceedings;
Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to develop legal strategies and case plans;
Stay informed of changes in laws and regulations relevant to the firm's practice areas;
Manage a caseload and meet deadlines for assigned tasks; and
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client files and records.
Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school;
Outstanding academic record;
Licensed to practice law in Nebraska;
Minimum of three years of litigation experience in domestic relations;
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to manage a caseload and work independently;
Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional client service;
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
Ability to work collaboratively with other attorneys and staff; and
Experience with legal research tools and software.
