Paralegals are a critical part of DLA Piper’s client service teams, working side by side with lawyers, co-counsel and clients on an array of substantive client matters. The majority of our paralegals are career professionals. They work independently and on teams, locally, nationally, and globally.
The Paralegal Team itself includes Case Assistants, Paralegals, Senior Paralegals and Paralegal Specialists. Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate
5 years' experience as a paralegal in a legal department or law firm
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Requirements:
Large law firm experience
What will your day look like? You will draft simple pleadings and/or assists attorneys with major motions and filings. You will perform cite-checking, fact-checking, and Blue Booking of legal memoranda and Shepardizing cases. You will organize all necessary documents for witness interviews, depositions, hearings, trials or arbitrations.
You will review, organize and maintain document databases for case tracking, discovery and document productions. You will utilize legal software such as Relativity and litigation technology including eDiscovery, data rooms, and eFiles documents in State and Federal Courts and coordinate service of documents. You will locate and review information applicable to a particular case, person or subject via online research or document reviews.
You will assist in the preparation of pretrial motions, trial binders, trial exhibits, etc. You will assist attorneys at depositions, hearings, trials or arbitrations.
