AIG’s Global Legal, Compliance, Regulatory and Government Affairs (GLCR) department is comprised of attorneys and other professionals providing high-quality advisory and transactional support with integrity and objectivity across all parts of the organization. AIG’s GLCR department is looking for an experienced attorney to serve as Associate General Counsel managing bad faith litigation and providing advice to AIG’s claims organization. ?
This position will be based out of the New York, NY office.
Job Description:
The primary purpose of the position is to manage an active litigation docket consisting of bad faith and extra-contractual matters arising from the handling of claims under casualty, financial lines, property and specialty policies issued to commercial and personal lines insureds. The attorney will also be responsible for providing timely advice to claim handlers in order to avoid and/or mitigate extra-contractual exposures.
Manage an active litigation docket consisting of bad faith and extra contractual matters;
Develop resolution strategies and make recommendations to senior management;
Direct and supervise outside counsel with respect to the implementation of litigation strategies;
Ensure that high-quality written work product is filed on behalf of the AIG member insurance companies;
Collaborate with business partners in the claims organization on strategic decisions and provide timely advice to claim handlers in order to prevent and/or mitigate bad faith exposure;
Prepare and conduct regularly scheduled training presentations to claim handlers.

The base salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $164,000.00, and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Education/Experience:
Attorney with at least 6 (six) years of law firm and/or in-house experience strongly preferred;
Heavy experience in commercial insurance Bad Faith litigation is required, coverage litigation experience is also preferred;
In-house experience and claims handling experience useful but not required;
J.D. from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials;
