The Paralegal provides guidance and assistance to physicians, allied health staff, attorneys and other parties, internally and externally, with respect to general legal matters affecting the Mayo system. The Paralegal is responsible for managing a large and diversified workload in support of attorneys and clients that requires strong decision-making capabilities, a high level of independent judgment and a good understanding of the organization and its business needs. The specific duties of the Paralegal may vary depending on department needs. Under general direction, the Paralegal completes work at an advanced level with most work requiring limited attorney revision. Duties include professional liability and general claims and litigation, including employment litigation, employment law and general health law. Additional duties include conducting research, investigating facts, conflict resolution, and performing other duties as needed.
