Darryl “The Hammer” Isaacs is hiring! Our law firm is expanding and needs the help of a highly motivated and organized Controller.
Responsibilities will include:
This is a Hybrid role.
Oversee the firm's financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
Prepare and present financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to the firm owner and Executive Board.
Conduct regular financial analysis and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations, laws, and accounting principles.
Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance internal controls and safeguard firm assets.
Build and nurture a strong relationship with the firm's banking partners to optimize financial services and develop effective banking strategies.
Coordinate with external accountants and tax advisors.
Monitor cash flow and manage working capital to optimize the firm's financial position.
Collaborate with the Executive Board to develop and track budgets.
Administer payroll and benefits programs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with employment laws.
Evaluate and recommend improvements to financial systems and software to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Assist in strategic planning initiatives and financial modeling for potential business opportunities.
Provide financial guidance and support to practice group leaders to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare performance reports for management review.
Prepare financial data for RFPs, client billing, and vendor negotiations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting or as a Controller or similar financial leadership role
In-depth knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles and financial reporting
Familiarity with legal accounting software is highly desirable.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data to support business decisions.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the staff and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capacity to manage and motivate a finance team.
Proficiency in MS Excel and other financial software applications.
Solid understanding of legal industry billing practices and revenue recognition rules.
