Description
The SuffolkUniversity Law School Housing Discrimination Testing Program (HDTP) is seeking excellent attorney candidates for a full-time Clinical Fellow position to advance our mission. Experience in fair housing, civil rights law, and/or landlord/tenant law is preferred.Candidates should be culturally competent and have a demonstrated commitment to or experience working with low-income client communities, communities of color, limited English speakers, and persons with disabilities. Candidates must have impeccable professional habits, including efficient time management, thorough follow-through, attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to give and receive feedback. Candidates must have a law degree and preference will be given to those who are members of the Bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or another U.S. jurisdiction.
Description:
The Clinical Fellowwill work as a member of the HDTP team, which is a part of Suffolk Law School's nationally recognized Clinical Programs. The Fellow will performa range of duties including, but not limited to:
Design, implement, and coordinate fair housing tests. Tests must be completed at a sufficient pace to meet grant deliverables.
Analyze testing results and prepare detailed and accurate written reports in a timely fashion.
Assist with recruiting, training, and maintaining a diverse pool of fair housing testers.
Develop and maintain relationships with households searching for housing in order to share fair housing information and provide search assistance.
Help plan a national fair housing conference.
Develop and conduct'know your rights' and 'understand the law' presentationson housing discrimination for voucher holders, agency personnel, and others.
Perform other work, as needed and assigned, to meet grant deliverables.
Utilize HDTP's case management and timekeeping systems and comply with all requirements and reporting needs.
Attend and participate in both in-person and remote meetings.
Hours and Duration:This is a hybrid position with up to three days in the office per week. This position is a full-time contract through June 30, 2024.Continuation of the position will be contingent on future funding, program needs, financial considerations, and the Fellow's performance in carrying out the position's responsibilities, as well as adherence to the relevant terms of employment of the University and Law School.
