Provides legal representation and advice on a broad range of legal matters affecting the university. Researches, interprets, and analyzes local state, federal, and other laws, rules, and regulations as they affect the university; monitors compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. The associate general counsel is expected to be knowledgeable on laws and regulations affecting general higher education law, general contractual and research matters unique to higher education, immigration matters relating to employment and student visas, intercollegiate athletics, NCAA rules and regulations, athletics risk management, and student affairs matters.
