Job Summary:
The Supervising Psychologist will be a staff member of the Cook County Juvenile Court Clinic (CCJCC), which provides forensic consultation and evaluation to the Juvenile Court of Cook County through a contract between Northwestern University and Cook County, Office of the Chief Judge. The Psychologist will assist the CCJCC administrative team in developing and implementing a general assessment service and externship program to provide psychological testing and assessment of youth in the Juvenile Justice Division for the purpose of supporting court-ordered service plans. The Psychologist will conduct general psychological testing and assessment and manage the recruitment and training of pre-doctoral psychology externs (2-3, annually). The Psychologist will also support other training activities within the CCJCC, including supervising postdoctoral psychology fellows and advanced predoctoral forensic psychology externs. In conducting psychological testing and assessment, the Psychologist will adhere to relevant ethical and best practice standards, prepare written reports of findings, and provide oral testimony in court when subpoenaed.

This position may be required to perform their job duties outside of CCJCC’s main location to accommodate case needs, including conducting evaluation activities at suburban courthouses or other community locations (e.g., schools, social service agencies).
Specific Responsibilities:
- Conducting general assessments of juvenile-court involved youth as referred by court parties (e.g., probation officers, attorneys, caseworkers) to support the implementation of a court-ordered service plan.
- Assisting the Clinic Director and Associate Director in the development of policies and procedures for conducting the Clinic’s general assessments.
- Supervising training activities within the CCJCC and assisting the Clinic Director and Associate Director in the development and management of a pre-doctoral assessment externship for psychology graduate students, including:
- Managing the recruitment and supervision of pre-doctoral assessment externs (2-3 annually).
- Supervising forensic psychiatry fellows and advanced forensic psychology externs in forensic evaluation activities, as assigned
- Providing didactic trainings to student trainees and new employees.
- Assisting with the training and supervision of staff psychologists
- Participating in monthly all-staff, clinician, and training meetings, as scheduled.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA accredited program or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.
- Successful completion of an APPIC accredited pre-doctoral internship.
- Current Illinois psychologist license (out of state applicants must be eligible for licensure in Illinois).
- Clinical experience with children, adolescents, and families, and an urban population.
- Experience teaching and supervising graduate-level students in psychology or related fields.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
- Knowledge of ethical and best practice standards for the practice of clinical psychology generally, and psychological testing/assessment specifically.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Cultural competence, including an awareness of how experiences, beliefs and values of diverse individuals and groups affects clinical forensic interactions and practice
- Ability to work cooperatively on an interdisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with court-involved populations in a clinical or forensic capacity.
- Experience supervising other psychologists in the practice of clinical or forensic psychology.
- Post-doctoral training in psychological testing and assessment.
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
- Fluency in Spanish, sign or other non-English language
- Knowledge of juvenile court law and procedures.
- Experience preparing written reports to be used in a forensic (i.e., legal) setting.
