(&#8220;AvalonBay&#8221; or the &#8220;Company&#8221;) has engaged Major, Lindsey &#38; Africa on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for a Vice President &#8211; Real Estate and Transactions Counsel or Senior Real Estate Counsel   (depending on experience), to be based in Arlington, VA. 
 Company:  
 AvalonBay Communities, Inc., a member of the S&#38;P 500, is an equity REIT that develops, redevelops, acquires and manages apartment communities in leading metropolitan areas in New England, the New York/New Jersey Metro area, the Mid-Atlantic, the Pacific Northwest, and Northern and Southern California, as well as in the Company&#39;s expansion regions of Raleigh-Durham and Charlotte, North Carolina, Southeast Florida, Dallas and Austin, Texas, and Denver, Colorado. As of September 30, 2025, the Company owned or held a direct or indirect ownership interest in 314 apartment communities containing 97,219 apartment homes in 11 states and the District of Columbia, of which 21 communities were under development. 
 Overview:  
 This attorney helps manage and oversee legal matters related to AvalonBay&#8217;s real estate and real estate investment activities, with a particular focus on acquisitions, dispositions, developments, redevelopments, joint ventures, structured investments, and other complex development and investment vehicles.&#xa0; This position will also provide advice to general questions and issues related to real estate matters and other legal issues, as appropriate. 
 Experience:  
 At least 8+ (ideally more than 8) years of broad-based commercial real estate transactional experience obtained at a prominent law firm or sophisticated corporate legal department.&#xa0; 
 Location/Relocation: 
 Arlington, VA. This is an in-office role requiring four days per week onsite, and local candidates are preferred. 
 Bar: 
 Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with an ability to obtain a corporate counsel license to practice in Virginia within the first year of employment.</description>
