Office of Career Services
The Office of Career Services (OCS) serves as a bridge between students, alumni and employers. The staff helps students and alumni to shape and realize their career goals and provides career-related counseling, workshops, and resources. We also work closely with legal employers to provide them with access to some of the best legal talent in the country.
The Director counsels law students and alumni on career planning, job-search strategies, and legal markets. The Advisor also works with the Associate Dean on counseling and career-related programming for students and alumni seeking private sector employment.
LOCATION & WORK AGREEMENT EXPECTATIONS
This position is based on-site at Stanford Law School and follows a hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of four days per week on campus during the academic year and three days per week on-site during the summer.

DUTIES:
*Manage private sector advising and career management for Stanford Law School students, providing advice to JDs (students and alumni) on career options, job search skills, and strategies related to private sector employment, in order to assist them in making appropriate choices and decisions.
*Engage in critical analysis of student concerns to resolve substantial issues that may span multiple areas, using advanced professional knowledge of the legal markets.
*Oversee key processes, including contribution and direction on policy and program content. This includes, but is not limited to:
oAnalyzing and developing report requirements, portals, and student-facing communications, including authoring a broad range of job search materials for students.
oPlanning, conducting, and evaluating career-related programs.
oInterpreting and implementing university policy related to academic policies; advising on the implementation of policies and practices for a student population or school.
*Identify and develop legal job opportunities for law students.
*Manage outreach programs, relationships with external community and university liaisons, representing Stanford Law School to potential private sector legal employers.
*Design and produce promotional and informational materials to educate employers about the Law School and its students.
*Develop and maintain relationships with Stanford Law School alumni.
*Maintain knowledge of existing legal markets through published materials and professional network.
*Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge of legal hiring markets. Previous experience in law as an attorney, law school counselor, recruiting manager, or legal recruiter required. JD or Masters Degree in Education or Counseling strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Advanced communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and all levels of management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to review and analyze complex information.
Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Advanced customer service skills.
Relevant computer systems/technology experience.
Understanding of financial transactions.
Ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate advising and counseling students and alumni, and for communication, coordination and cooperation with private sector employers and other departments and programs within the Law School and University.
Ability to make independent decisions and exercise mature judgment and discretion.

Sensitivity to the diversity of student body and career interests.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple assignments under pressure with frequent interruptions.

Physical Requirements:
Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

The expected pay range for this position is $108,450 to $129,629 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
